Tips For Summer Dental Care
We don’t know about you, but we are thrilled that summer is starting soon. While we know it already feels like summer, we can all celebrate the official start in a few short days. While we hope you have tons of summer fun planned, we want to remind you to continue to care for your oral health because not caring for your teeth now can lead to unwanted oral health issues in the future. Continue reading to learn some helpful suggestions for caring for your teeth this summer.
Dental Care Tips for the Summer
We know that thinking about your oral health may not be on your radar this summer, but we want you to keep these tips in mind. We would hate for you to experience a dental emergency or complication with your oral health.
Maintain Your Oral Hygiene Routine
Summer is a time when schedules and routines become lax, but we encourage you to stay on top of your family’s oral hygiene routine. We recommend that our patients of all ages brush and floss every day as usual, especially after a night of indulging in treats. Not caring for your teeth over the summer can lead to serious decay problems in the fall and winter.
Schedule Oral Hygiene Examinations and Needed Treatments
Now is the perfect time to schedule any necessary cleanings or treatments, as we know many of our patients’ schedules are more relaxed during the summer. We especially recommend this for any of our younger, school-age patients who are busy with their education, sports, and activities during the school year. If it has been longer than six months, we suggest calling now to schedule an appointment before the hustle and bustle of the fall resumes.
Limit Sugar
Summertime is known for the delicious treats available. Whether you are eating ice cream to cool off from the heat or enjoying s’mores around the campfire, there is plenty of sugar in your diet. We also want patients to be mindful of the sugar content in many of their favorite drinks that they may be using to cool off and hydrate. Sugar is especially high in sports drinks. This is another reason it is extremely important to continue to brush and floss your teeth, as mentioned above.
If you or a loved one are in need of a hygiene examination, be sure to contact our office which is located in New Braunfels, TX to schedule an appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon and hope you have an amazing remainder of summer.
