Is It Back To School Already?!
Wow! Summer is really flying by! We hope you have been relaxing and enjoying the long sunny days. Not to burst your bubble, but school is going to be back in session before you know it. That means high school and college students will soon be busy with their studies and all their extracurriculars. Now’s the time to get your teen and college-aged kids in to see us for a cleaning and examination. If you wait much longer, scheduling could be a lot more complicated. Keep reading for more information.
Don’t Wait Until School Starts
Families get especially busy once school starts. Now is a great time to get all the necessary visits out of the way. That includes a semi-annual teeth cleaning and examination. Scheduling those appointments now means you shouldn’t have to think about them again for another 6 months!
Summer is also a great time for:
- Invisalign®: Your teenager will be more likely to stick to their treatment regimen during the school year if you give them some time to get used to it beforehand.
- Fillings and Crowns: If you know your teen or college-aged child needs a filling or crown, you can get the treatment done when their schedule is more relaxed and avoid them having to miss classes.
- Wisdom Tooth Extraction: Bothersome wisdom teeth can be distracting, pulling your child’s concentration away from their studies and other important activities. Getting wisdom teeth out in the summer means your child will have a more comfortable school year.
Set an Example for Your Kids
Children, no matter how old they are, look to the adults in their lives to learn important information about how to behave and take care of themselves. Seeing that the adults they trust visit the dentist regularly and prioritize their oral health will influence them to do the same when they become self-sufficient. That’s a big reason we encourage parents and guardians to use us at their family practice. It sets a great example and teaches kids that the dentist is a friendly place to get essential care.
We Care About Our Young Patients
Our young patients are very important to us. If you have a high school or college-aged child at home, this is a critical time for reinforcing the importance of keeping their teeth and mouth healthy, before they strike out on their own. Good, consistent oral hygiene habits in childhood and adolescence usually carry on into adulthood. There’s no better way to set your children up for long-term oral health than consistently scheduling their regular dental check-ups every 6 months and promptly addressing any treatments they need.
