Answers To Popular Questions About Invisalign®
At Rivercrest Family Dental, we are happy to provide Invisalign® treatments to patients who are looking to straighten their teeth. If you are unfamiliar, Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear aligner trays to slowly transition teeth into the proper placement. Patients love this treatment because of the many benefits it provides. We see patients who have heard of Invisalign but are not familiar with the ins and outs of the treatment. We want to answer some of the most common questions we get about Invisalign.
Are Invisalign trays permanently in the mouth?
- One of the biggest benefits of Invisalign treatment is that the trays are removable. While we recommend that you wear the trays for as many hours as possible, the trays should be removed for eating and cleaning your teeth.
Are there food restrictions with Invisalign?
- Since the trays are removable, patients do not have any food restrictions. Although trays need to be removed before eating, it is best to wear your trays as long as possible each day.
Is it easy to care for your teeth and the trays?
- Patients will continue to clean their teeth the same way as always, brushing and flossing daily. We will provide instructions for cleaning the trays. It is important to follow our directions so you do not damage the trays.
What is the difference between Invisalign and traditional metal braces?
- The biggest difference between Invisalign and traditional metal braces is the appearance of the hardware. Metal braces use brackets and wires that are clearly visible on the teeth. Even if you have clear braces, they are still noticeable. The trays that are used for Invisalign treatment are completely clear, making treatment much more discreet.
